  1. The "KA9Q NOS" networking package is copyright 1992 by Phil Karn, KA9Q.
  2. All rights reserved. Permission is hereby granted for the free copying
  3. and use of this package by radio amateurs and non-profit educational
  4. institutions. I.e., to hams and schools, it is "freeware".

  6. Use of this software by commercial or governmental organizations is on a
  7. "shareware" -- not freeware -- basis. That is, a prospective commercial
  8. or governmental user may copy and evaluate the software for his or her
  9. application. If it is to be used beyond evaluation purposes, it must be
  10. registered for $50/copy (see address below).

  12. The right conferred by the registration fee to use the software in a
  13. commercial or government organization is limited to those portions of
  14. the NOS package that are the sole work of Phil Karn, KA9Q. Certain
  15. portions of the package, in particular the email subsystem, were
  16. contributed by others with the understanding that they would be used for
  17. amateur radio and educational purposes only. Any commercial or
  18. governmental use of these portions requires an agreement with the
  19. appropriate author(s). Each source code file includes an appropriate
  20. authorship and copyright statement.

  22. In several cases, the contributing authors have placed their code into
  23. the public domain. This is the case with the PPP and VJ header
  24. compression code contributed by Katie Stevens and Bill Simpson. This
  25. code may be freely used by anyone. Again, see the comments in the
  26. various source files for details.

  28. NOS is provided without warranty of any kind. The prospective user is
  29. responsible for testing and evaluating it to see if it meets his or her
  30. needs. The payment of the registration fee merely grants the user the
  31. right to use the software as-is; it does not obligate me to provide any
  32. assistance or support.

  34. OEM licenses for the inclusion of part or all of the Karn-authored
  35. portions of NOS into commercial networking software products are
  36. available on an individually negotiated basis. Discounted site licenses
